The quiet, sheltered waters inside the reef provide a wide range of options if you enjoy light tackle fishing. The reef is constantly accessible because it is less than a mile from the coast at either of its closest and 19 miles away from the coast at its farthest points in Southern Belize and Northern Belize, respectively. You will have to compete with many types of snappers and jacks, kingfish, and large barracuda while light tackle fishing inside the reef. Poppers or swim baits, drifting live sardines, chunk baiting, or vertical jigging can all be used for this.
