Over 200 animals from over 45 local species are on exhibit at the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center. The Zoo reserves wildlife that were orphaned, rescued, born at the zoo, rehabilitated animals, or brought to The Belize Zoo as contributions from other zoological organizations. The Belize Zoo has emerged as Belize’s first fully accessible natural attraction for tourists with physical limitations. It is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization dedicated to wildlife conservation through animal rehabilitation and environmental education.
